OOTD: Chambray Shantay

As many of you frequent blog visitors might know, I went to Buffalo shopping with my mom last weekend. I had a great time and I definitely spent WAY too much money there. I think I left with a deficit of almost $500 in my pocket.. but what can I say, I'm a shopaholic!  I picked up quite a few things that I had been looking for here in Canada but just hadn't seemed to find! This list includes black studded "smoking slippers" and a chambray shirt-- both featured here! I love clothes and putting together new outfits for you all, and of course myself! Fashion can be such a confidence booster! In the famous words of Ru Paul, I have one thing to say... YOU BETTA WERK! Fresh Haircut

Today I had a lovely catch up session with my old childhood best friend Tina! We had a great meal at a local restaurant and even shared a deep fried mars bar... (UM DELISH!) After that, I went back to her place where she set up a makeshift salon in her kitchen and cut my hair for me (she works as a stylist in a local salon).  It was great to chat with her throughout the evening as she cut and styled my hair (for free.. all I had to do was buy dessert)!
Tina trimmed up my bangs and my split ends, added some layers and a cute funky style to it that I adore! Here are some pictures of the process.  before. the final product. cute, sassy and short- love it!

I'm Mrs. She's too Big, Now She's Too Thin

I’ve been under a lot of scrutiny over the last little while about my body and I’m not really sure where I fit within the plus size community anymore. I’ve had a number of people tell me that I’m too small to be considered plus size. I’ve also had a number of people (usually men) tell me that I am too fat or unattractive to wear some of the things I do. Last weekend my own mother even told me that I was too fat to wear a bodycon skirt..
The fact is I am a size 18 (on a good day) or lately, a size 20. This is definitely considered to be plus size. I have abnormal proportions that makes my size vary depending on clothing type or style. I have extremely broad shoulders and large breasts (think 44DD) that limit what I am able to wear significantly. I know a number of plus size women (some with larger midsections) who are able to fit into a size L or XL shirt, but 9 times out of 10 I cannot fit into the same shirt. I don’t have the world’s largest tummy, I mean I definitely have a bit of …

Makeup Monday: Lancome

Since I'm not only in love with plus-size fashion and I'm also obsessed with makeup, I have decided to dedicate Monday posts to makeup and title them Makeup Mondays.
One of my good friends works for a Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) beauty counter in Toronto, so she has opened me up to a new world of makeup in the last few months. My face is thanking her, but my pocketbook definitely isn't! Since she works at a major Canadian department store, she usually hears about new products and deals before I do, but she graciously passes on this information to me.  This week, Lancome has a promotion on that when you spend $35 or more on makeup products, you get a free 8 piece gift set with purchase! This 8 piece gift set includes: a lipstick, blush, eye shadow palette, mascara, eye makeup remover, skin correcting serum and choice of a skin care cream, plus an adorable cosmetics bag to put it all in! I haven't had the chance to try out any of the products yet, but they look fantastic.…

Sunday Funday: Shopping and Photoshoot Fun

I had a lovely day shopping in the city today, getting my makeup done and I even got in a bit of studying. I kept my outfit pretty simple today because I knew I would want to be comfortable when shopping.  However, I still wanted to look cute and put together because I was shopping at one of the province's most expensive malls. Louis Vuitton, Holt Renfrew, Burberry, Michael Kors, you name it. My pocketbook has been suffering lately.

Product Review: Purple Rain (Coat)

In Canada, it has been raining a lot lately so I have been in desperate need of a really cute rain coat with a hood to shelter myself from the rain.  I don't know what it is about plus size rain coats or "spring jackets" but none of the ones I own have hoods! I've been searching and searching for that perfect plus size rain coat to protect my hair by having hood big enough to cover and stay down in the wind.  I was shopping with my mom a few weeks back and came across an awesome coat that fit me perfectly from Penningtons.  Usually I wear a 1X at Penningtons because their sizes run really large but I had to go up to a 2X in this to fit my ladies comfortably, so keep that in mind when purchasing. This fabulous coat comes in four colours: sunset purple (shown below), black, blue and green lake.
It has the perfect cinching that defines my waist so gloriously, and the best part-- its hood stays on (even in the windy weather)! Ultimately I purchased the Sunset Purple sha…

Makeup Monday: Designer Makeup

Lately, I have been purchasing quite a bit of designer makeup. I think this stems from the need to spend less money on clothes (seriously I spend probably $500 a month on clothing and jewelry) and replace my clothes shopping with something else.  I know I'm still spending but at least I'm not spending $500 a month.. I also have WAY too many clothes to the point where they don't really fit into my closet anymore so I'm going to have to downsize ASAP before I move into a small apartment in the fall. Later, I might do a review of some or all of the products shown here, because I use a lot of them often (daily skincare).
Question: What is the most expensive item of makeup you have ever bought? Was it worth it? Comment below, I'd love to hear your answers and stories! Erica xoxo yesterday's face

Big Girl in a Big World

New Blog, New Image
First of all, I would like to welcome you all to my new and improved blog.  I have been blogging on Tumblr (My Tumblr Blog)for the past year. Recently, I decided that it was time to take the plunge, design my own blog and expand horizons in the plus-size fashion world.  That's right ladies and gentlemen, you have landed yourself among one of my newest projects, a plus size fashion blog! That being said, I'm pretty awful with webdesign and HTML so if anyone has any pointers on how to customize this, please send them my way!
I think a little introduction is in order here. My name is Erica and I am a self-proclaimed plus size fashionista/diva extraordinaire from Toronto, ON.  Since I was little, I have always enjoyed being the center of attention and was quite the fashion plate (or so I've been told). I  have loved fashion and have been coordinating outfits since I can remember. I am trying to make it in the world of plus size modelling, but I just haven&…
