Throwback Thursday: Grand Opening of Addition Elle Queen Street
Lately, I've been reminiscing about my past and my journey for self-acceptance. I think back to how blogging has freed me from the chains society used to hold on me. Which brings me to how I got started blogging. About two years ago I made a Tumblr account to gather inspiration from other women and to share my own style with the world.
In March, I was invited to the Addition Elle Queen Street grand opening in Toronto and release of the Be a Showstopper Campaign. I took the time off from my busy studies and got all dolled up for the party. Of course, I had to sport my Addition Elle pleather peplum top from their Spring collection & my wedge booties from there as well. For a pop of colour, I also threw on my cobalt blue pants from Penningtons and some bangles from Avenue.
On this day, I was privileged to meet a few of my favourite bloggers and models. They were all so lovely and inspirational. I had been in contact with blogger and model Nadia Aboulhosn before the event and I was so excited to finally have the opportunity to meet her. She has been one of my biggest inspirations since I discovered her blog over a year ago. She shared with me some amazing stories and some fashion and real life tips about trying to make it as a blogger. I was also very excited to meet Karyn Johnson of Killer Kurves, a fellow Torontonian and amazing blogger/model. My mom was even excited that I got to meet Karyn and sent me a cute fangirl text asking if I had got to meet her. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to see Karyn again this October in Guelph at Consign Your Curves - and I even brought my mom along so she could meet one of her fashion icons! It was adorable.
Later on in the evening, I was able to meet some other amazing ladies, some local and some of the ladies flown in from USA! It was a pleasure to meet Ashley Graham, famous plus size model who I have always adored. She has been an inspiration to me for years! Ashley was unbelievably sweet, and I was lucky enough to snap a picture with her before she had to head out for the evening. I was also fortunate enough to also meet Gabi Gregg of GabiFresh and Marie Denee of The Curvy Fashionista. It was actually Marie who inspired me get off of Tumblr and expand my blog. I have always loved her style and her blog, so I was so happy to finally meet her and again, receive some awesome advice. After the event, I even got to spend a bit of extra time with Nadia and Marie by showing them to their hotel in Toronto (being a local, I know my way around the city), but not before making a pitstop to the very Canadian Tim Hortons of course!
All in all, I had a great night with some amazing women. These ladies are all fashion icons, and I feel so privileged to have met them all and shared a wonderful evening with them.
