Makeup Monday: Black Friday Deals of 2013

As you may have noticed, unfortunately I took a hiatus from my Makeup Monday posts for a while due to school, and also sacrificing them to improve other content on my blog instead. However, it surely does not mean that I have been neglecting the purchase of new makeup over the last 2 months or so, I just haven't had the opportunity to share it with you all.

In 2013, I think I became obsessed with makeup. Literally obsessed. We all know I have a shopping addiction (retail therapy is the best form of therapy!) but I have been used to purchasing clothes for so long, I needed a change. Actually, something that prompted me to stop "binge buying" clothing was my lack of closet space at my new apartment. I took a leap and moved to downtown Toronto from the outskirts in September, so naturally my closet shrunk in size as square footage costs more downtown.

Honestly, before my move I spent months preparing to donate and toss hundreds of items from my closet. I sold some at Big Deal Toronto and Consign Your Curves in Guelph in 2013, but I ended up donating a fair number of items as well. Currently, I'm due for another closet cleanse, so all my plus girls in Toronto, give me a holler sometime cause I might be getting rid of something that you just can't resist! More updates on this soon... honestly I just thought of this right now so I need some time to clean, sort and prep ladies!

Anyway, without further ado.. here are some of the great Black Friday deals I picked up at Sephora (online) this past year, all of which were $12 (CDN)! Since I spent over $50, I also got an awesome sample pack of 8 or so samples and a classic makeup case.. SCORE! Other than those which were gifts, or I've yet to try (as indicated by boldface) I will include a mini review below.
$12 Deals
Bare Minerals: Enchanting Eyes Set (Primer & Smoky Eye Duo) - Gift for my Mom
Too Faced: Better than Sex Mascara & Kohl Liner- Have Yet to Try
Bite Beauty: Lush Fruit Lip Glosses
Tarte: Maracuja Oil; Lights, Camera, Lashes! Mascara & Matifying Powder
Buxom: Full on Lipstick in Havana
The Art of Shaving: 4 Step Shave Set - Gift for my Dad

Ole Henriksen: Truth Serum - Have Yet to Try
Alterna: Bamboo Smooth Dry Kendi Oil
Nars: Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base - Have Yet to Try
Origins: GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream
Algenist: Firming and Lifting Cream
DermaDoctor: Liquid Res Light Eye Lift Lotion - Have Yet to Try

BITE: I've used bite glosses in the past, but I have to say I'm not so fond of the applicator on this set 7/10
TARTE: I adore the maracuja oil (great for the face) 10/10. I also love the mascara (I wish it wasn't sample sized!) 9/10. The matifying powder is okay. It does it's job, but it's hard to get at in such a small size 7.5/10
BUXOM: AMAZING product. It works as a liner or a lipstick and it's so easy to put on. No smudging or bleeding and I don't even need a mirror for precision 10/10
ALTERNA: Great dry oil for the hair! I will definitely re-purchase in full size when I'm done mine. It makes my hair super soft. Other than that though, I see no special properties.. so for that reason, 8/10
ORIGINS: Seriously, this is the stuff guys. Miracle eye cream. Reduces redness/puffiness/darkness. A little goes a long way with this product too, which is nice 9/10
ALGENIST: Pretty standard face cream. I noticed my face was softer, but I didn't really notice any firming thus far.. so 7/10
