Fatshion Friday: Hawaiian Punch

Earlier this summer, I stumbled into H&M on a shopping trip with some blogger friends. Due to my bad luck at H&M in the past, I was reluctant to shop in a store that I assumed I would have no further luck in. Karen (of Curvy Canadian) somehow convinced me that shopping in H&M would be worth while, and she was certainly right! I surprised myself by leaving the store with three pieces of clothing!

Let me say, shopping in straight-size stores can either be awesome, or it can be a nightmare. I have a bad habit of thinking about the negative side of shopping at these stores. I envision overcrowded stores where I sift through racks and racks of items to find nothing that fits me. Then, I'm left feeling discouraged upon exit. In the reality of it, although it can be exhausting to shop at straight-size stores when you're plus-size, you can really find some hidden gems in stores. Whether they be stretchy, oversized or both (bonus!), there is much to be found. Fact is, you'll likely snag a better deal (straight-size clothing is often cheaper to manufacture than plus-size clothing).

However, when shopping in straight-size stores (and even among plus-size attire), I always try to remember one piece of fashion advice. Always dress for your body! By this, I DO NOT mean to avoid "fashion faux-pas for the curvy girl"(i.e. no horizontal stripes, no coloured/light jeans, etc.). What I mean is, purchase clothing that fits you well.
