Makeup Monday: Nivea Creme and In-Shower Body Milk

I have used Nivea products off and on for most of my young adult years, but hadn't stuck with any specific product consistently. In all honesty, I wasn't aware of the broad range of products that Nivea makes... deodorant, lip balms and makeup remover to name a few! There's also a misconception that Nivea is a brand that caters to an older demographic, but this is not the case. Good skincare and healthy skin are a blessing at any age. If anything, we should start taking care of our skin now, as it will be with us for life!

I had the pleasure of being one of the first to try out Nivea's newest product, In-Shower Body Milk. The product hits the shelf next month, in January 2015! I was actually quite happy with the outcome of the body milk. I had extremely high expectations for this product as it is new and 'revolutionary'. I am very proud to say that this is one of the best moisturizing products I've used in a long time.

The cool thing about this product is that it is essentially an in-shower moisturizer, which is amazing for many reasons. The best quality about the body milk is that it is an absolute timesaver! I am a busy lady, so I need to have a quick and simple shower routine. As soon as I'm out of the shower, the probability that I will apply moisturizer before heading out the door is reduced significantly.

Upon initial inspection, the consistency of the body milk is similar to a moisturizer. Once I massaged the lotion into my body, it became more of a light serum, which I loved. The bottle does indicate that there is no 'sticky feeling' after rising, which is quite true for the most part. However, if you do miss washing off a bit of it, it might feel the slightest bit sticky after your shower. Ultimately, the body milk is extremely moisturizing and keeps your body smelling good (clean) and silky-smooth all day long!

I also had the joy of trying out Nivea's top-selling moisturizer, Creme. When I opened up the packaging (they seals all of their moisturizers and cremes to lock-in scent and nutrients), the consistency appeared quite thick. I would say that in appearance and upon first touch, it felt a bit like a body butter. I am not personally fan of body butters as I find them to be a bit thick and/or heavy and oily. Thankfully, this product is not oily at all, but I wished the consistency was a bit different.

I would actually go as far to associate the texture and sight of the creme to a household favourite, Penaten. Naturally, the properties and purpose of the products are quite different. I have to say, that although I cannot rave as much about the creme, I still enjoyed using it. I would compare this scent to a light traditional soap smell, such as Dove.

All of Nivea's products are super hydrating, which is likely because their primary ingredient is water! I definitely give props to Nivea for coming up with this new product but capitalizing on the transformation of society while maintaining their brand integrity.

P.S. Make sure to check out the blog tomorrow (Tuesday) for my exciting Nivea giveaway announcement!
