Makeup Monday: Illamasqua Makeup Haul

I am extremely passionate about beauty and makeup and I genuinely enjoy sharing my perspective with my readers. That is why I have committed myself to posting on Makeup Monday on a more consistent basis. I really want you to look forward to something new on the blog related to beauty each week, so here goes nothing!

I'm not sure how many of you have heard of the great makeup brand, Illamasqua. If you haven't, here's a brief history: Developed in 2008, Illamasqua is a British luxe makeup brand that was once sold by Sephora. In Canada, you can purchase Illamasqua at The Hudson's Bay Company. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) HBC is in the process of fading out Illamasqua, and their entire product selection is on hyper-clearance. I recently found out that Illamasqua has pulled their collection from North America entirely, so stock up while you can!

If you're seriously interested, you can snag some pretty great deals on Illamasqua's UK website. There is free international shipping on any purchase over $50 (such a good deal). The product options are much larger on the UK site, but some prices are cheaper at HBC in Canada (hint hint!).

Illamasqua products are known for being extremely pigmented and long-lasting. There is no way I could disagree with such statements. I was especially pleased about how pigmented the colours are, especially the eyeshadows! I have swapped out my naked palette on weekend trips for this easy-to-carry item. Without eyeshadow primer, my neutral eye palette shadows lasted a while before creasing. The glam shadows are designed for nights on the town, but let's be honest, nights on the town require eyeshadow primer.

The bronzer duo is pretty awesome, I really like that there is a lighter, sparkly shade and a darker, matte shade in the same duo. The blush is also fantastic, although be warned that the pink is SUPER pigmented so make sure you apply this sparingly if you don't want to look like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show. Finally, I have to say that I am obsessed with my Illamasqua lipstick. The colour I chose was Luster, and I applied it every day when I was on vacation in the Carribean recently.

Sadly, less than 5 minutes after I snapped these photos, I dropped two of my palettes from a very low distance. It pains me to say that one of my bronzer shades shattered from the low impact. I kind of expected more from Illamasqua in terms of durability, especially as the cases are quite bulky and thick. Both of the dropped palettes were ultimately left unhinged and broken.. womp womp. So much for those purchases, they will be shelved for a while I think. plus size fashion, illamasqua, makeup review, beauty review, beauty blog, bronzer and blush, british makeup, psootd, plus size street style, plus size outfit, curvy fashion, casual fashion, curvy fatshion, casual fashion, canada plus size fashion
All in all, I have to say that I am quite pleased with Illamasqua products. I would definitely recommend getting your hands on a few while they're on sale!
