Makeup Monday: Benefit Roller Lash Review

If you're a long-time reader of Erica Exposed, you may remember my mascara rant and review from last summer. If you don't remember and are curious, you can find it here.

In the 10+ years of my makeup-wearing time, I have found only a handful of mascaras that I truly like, and even less that I love. It's common knowledge that you need to replace your mascara ~6 months to maintain sanitary standards; so it's safe to say I know at least 20 mascaras very intimately. When that time came again, I had a major decision to make... who was my money and loyalty to go to?

Everyone was ranting and raving about Benefit's Roller Lash, so I marched into my local drugstore (yes, Benefit is carried at select drugstores in Canada) and picked one up. There are currently mixed reviews on the net right now, so I thought I would add to the sea of confusion in the hopes that someone will find it beneficial (hehe see what I did there?!). Overall, I wasn't extremely disappointed, so that's always a plus! There are many aspects of Roller Lash that I love, but like most mascaras, there's certainly room for improvement.
Category Play-by-Play:

Separation: The best part of Roller Lash, in my opinion. Very few mascaras are able to separate my lashes without making them appear "spider-y". Roller Lash is able to accomplish the near-impossible here, so kudos to you, Benefit.

Lengthening/Volumizing: Well done Roller Lash! The formula is definitely lengthening (almost giving the impression of lashes twice as long!) and a fair bit volumizing.
Curl: Roller Lash is designed to serve as a mascara and eyelash curler in one-- that is no curling required! I personally found that Roller Lash did an adequate job at naturally curling my lashes, but it still left me wanting more. It didn't really live up to the CURL expectations I had. P.S. I decided to experiment by curling my lashes first and then applying Roller Lash and I was much happier with the result.

Formula: Sadly, this is the thing I am most disappointed about. It comes off at the mere sense of touch... (I mean don't tell me you've never touched your eyes accidentally while mascara is on),

I still think Roller Lash is worth the investment, but I wouldn't throw away those eyelash curlers just yet. I for one am a long-time lover of all Benefit products. There is quality in what you pay for (it just may not be exactly what was expected) and there's some pretty adorable packaging too! Since I just loooove Benefit so much, I have decided to throw a Benefit Giveaway as a way to thank all of my awesome followers!
