Beauty Review: Sara's Sweetheart Soaps

To kickstart February (this winter has flown by, am I right?), I have decided to talk about something that is pretty important to me. In this capitalist money-making, power hungry world, how often do you stop to think about the 'little guy'? The small business.

I have discussed the perks of shopping local in the past (found here), but what about shopping locally within small businesses? A few years ago, I worked for a small business in the retail industry and what I observed is that every sale counts, big or small. Every sale, and more importantly, every customer is significant and meaningful to the business owner (or at least they should be). Revenue is generated by purchases, and people make purchases. What you may not realize is that these sales not only have the ability to keep the business running, but offer business-owners the ability to live.

I wanted to collaborate with Sara McIntyre, a law clerk, who is also an independent retailer based in Toronto after meeting her on Bunz (check it out!). Sara drew me in with her unique passion and talent for designing soaps and candles (especially girly ones!). Sara has an Etsy shop where she sells her handmade custom soaps and novelty candles, which you can find here. Sara ships anywhere in Canada, and offers pickup in Toronto! Best of all, if you mention that you found Sara through me, you will receive a FREE 4-piece sweetheart soap set (as seen below) with any purchase! These are the perfect Valentine's Day gift for your significant other, friend or even yourself! They are adorable, affordable and Erica Exposed approved

One of my New Years Resolutions is to take better care of myself. This task is 100% customizable, depending on your needs. For me, it means, spending less time worrying and more time relaxing. Lately, I've felt that every day is Groundhog Day, so I wanted to change up my routine a bit, and indulge in a bubble bath. It was nice to lounge in the tub, lathering myself up with these *adorable* soaps. I couldn't be more thrilled with how they turned out (Sara added some extra messages for me).

All products are made with bath and body safe essential or fragrance oils - or can be made scent free. I personally found that the soaps didn't have a strong scent, rather they were very natural.
Scents: Green-Sugar, Pink-Fruit Punch, Purple-Grapefruit

This month, I will be showcasing some of my favourite local small/independent businesses in Toronto! Aside: The above also speaks the same about independent businesses that offer services, as services are also products! I can't wait to show off my next independent retailer collaboration.
